Fortunately, I was able to cancel & request a refund plus use my United Airline points to purchase a last minute flight that left 545am versus being stuck in LA with a 3:00pm departure (a total of almost 15 hour delay). There are ways to forecast these issues in advance so the customer suffers less. I’m sure it may have to do with lack of pilots, not economically best for THEM to get another plane but at the consumers expense (time) we had to suffer. We could have been told more in advance about the huge possible delay change. The departure time changed from 2am to 2pm. around 942pm 1/10/22, the departure gate changed -at 12 am 1/11/22, the departure time changed from 12:55am to 2am.
Well, we were supposed to depart 12:55am on 1/11/22.
